If you use vehicles for your business you should not operate them without a comprehensive package of liability and physical damage coverage. The types and amounts of protection needed for business operation are usually not offered and may be excluded, ineligible or limited by personal automobile insurance policies.

 

Types of coverage offered under a policy are:  
Liability
  • Bodily injury – pays for bodily injury or death resulting from an accident for which you are at fault and legal defense.
  • Property damage – provides you with protection if your car accidently damages another person’s property and legal defense.
 
Medical payments - intended for medical expenses of the driver and passengers in your car that have incurred as a result of a covered accident regardless of fault.
Comprehensive coverage - for matters such as theft, vandalism, flood, fire, and other covered perils.
Collision coverage - coverage for when your car hits or is hit by another object.
Uninsured and underinsured - coverage pays for your injuries and, in some circumstances, certain property damage caused by person without insurance or a hit-and-run driver. In some cases, underinsured coverage is also included or should be considered. For cases in which the at-fault driver of an accident does not have enough insurance to cover damages.
Hired or Borrowed - coverage for autos that the business borrows or rents.
Non-Owned Autos - coverage for employees using their cars for the business.
